What was the inspiration behind Tailr?
The inspiration for Tailr emerged from a deeper understanding of pet parents' needs in an increasingly digital world. While QR codes weren't mainstream yet, we recognized their potential to revolutionize pet safety and care management. What started as a lost and found solution evolved into something much more comprehensive after observing how pet parents struggled with managing their pets' information across multiple platforms and providers. Today, Tailr stands as a comprehensive platform that empowers pet parents with technology that ensures their pets' safety and well-being, reflecting the industry's movement toward integrated, tech-enabled pet care solutions.
How does your brand differ from other industry brands in the same category? What gives you the competitive edge?
Tailr offers the most comprehensive and user-friendly solution to managing your pet's health and care information on the market. We stand apart through four key differentiators:
1. Comprehensive Document Management through our document hub with four specialized categories for seamless organization, where pet parents can store and manage everything from medical records to grooming preferences.
2. Advanced and seamless information sharing between pet parents and care providers. Tailr enables instant access to comprehensive pet profiles, including medical records, behavior traits, and grooming preferences - a level of detail unmatched in the market. This includes the most advanced lost & found solution on the market, and the pet parent has full control of how private this information is by changing visibility settings
3. User-centric design: Tailr distinguishes itself through thoughtful design that combines functionality with style. Our intuitive app interface addresses the growing demand from tech-savvy pet owners, particularly millennials and Gen Z, who prioritize both aesthetics and functionality in pet care solutions.

Describe the ingredients you look for in the products you use.
The Tailr tag not only looks and feels as beautiful as a piece of jewelry but is built to last the outdoor environment and the nature of all pets. Using stainless steel metal with a 14k gold PVD plating and laser engraved QR Code, we can confidently say there is none other on the market with the same style, durability, and free access to a comprehensive companion app for the life of the pet as we offer.

Walk us through your development process — from ideation to the product we see on the shelf.
At Tailr we are always working to make pets' lives better and provide pet parents the feeling of being in control and at ease. To do this we need to hear their needs and wants. We use extensive market research to understand pet parents’ pain points, needs, and desires in all aspects of their lives. After we understand the needs/wants we turn this over to the "development team". The dev team consists of a group of designers, UX experts, front, back, and flutter devs. This team is led by the CEO of Tailr. After the design and user experience are approved we start writing code, testing, and then releasing the updates to the Tailr client base - all at zero extra cost to the pet parents.
What are some things you take into consideration during the creation of new products?
Pets and their needs are always first! We listen to pet parents and take into consideration their daily routines, pain points, and needs to create simple features within the Tailr app that will add value and peace of mind to their lives.
Other than Tailr, what is something you are passionate about?
I love the outdoors! Sports, Hiking, Camping, and Water being my second love, Family being my first! I am blessed to be a father of 3 incredible boys who I get to do all of the above with. I am a builder by nature and am passionate about teaching these skills to my boys and their friends.
What is one major lesson you learned about running a business?
Having a system, even if it needs to be changed 100 times, will save time, and money, improve relationships, and make every project almost perfect. Making those changes sooner rather than later can have a big impact on success down the line.
What are some challenges you have overcome with Tailr?
As a category builder with a product that is unique to the market, the biggest challenge has been to strike the right balance between market education, product development, and business growth. After four years of developing an intuitive platform, the enthusiastic response from pet parents validates our innovative approach and confirms we're addressing a genuine market need in the pet care industry.
What would you say is your most effective marketing channel?
As a new brand preparing for our full retail launch in early 2025, our current marketing strategy focuses on direct-to-consumer digital channels. We're building brand awareness through strategic partnerships with influencers and brand ambassadors who help educate pet parents about Tailr's innovative pet care solution. This focused approach allows us to establish our brand presence and demonstrate our value proposition before expanding to major online retail platforms. We also have a strong presence in many independent brick-and-mortar pet stores across the country.

Give us the backstory of your brand’s name.
We wanted a name that had meaning, along with uniqueness, and class! I mean we are in the 21st century can this even be possible!? Working alongside our brand strategist Logan Pipes, digging deep into who we are and what we have created, we kept coming back to the fact that we are tailoring a product for pets and their parents. Now how could we be that, but differentiate ourselves from the noise? We obliviously ended with Tailr - tailored care + putting emphasis on “tailr” (notice the tail in the R on the logo) to bring the pets in!
What would you like to see for Tailr's future?
For Tailr to help reunite all pets with their families and to help pet parents easily store, access, and share their pets’ important documents with pet providers and in case of emergencies. We want to make pet parenting easier and help improve pets’ lives with convenience and clear communication of their unique needs and wants.
What do you think is the most prominent concern in the pet industry?
My heart is for all the pets that are currently in the shelter system waiting for a forever home. With the number of pets increasing in the country, also comes the overpopulation in high-kill shelters and healthy pets being euthanized to make space for others. These are numbers we’ve never seen before.
