What was the inspiration behind BarkLogic?

I wanted to create safe and healthy grooming products for puppies and dogs of all breeds and sizes infused with pure and natural ingredients like essential oils , botanicals and plant extracts.

How does your brand differ from other industry brands in the same category? What gives you the competitive edge?

Our products have aromatherapeutic properties for pets and their parents. So they can experience aromatherapy while being groomed!

Describe the ingredients you look for in the products you use.

I look for natural ingredients in the products I use and we build our dog products by starting with what we don't want in the products we use on ourselves. All of our products are sulfate free, phthalate free, PEG free & paraben free to name a few attributes. We also never use artificial fragrances or dyes.

Walk us through your development process — from ideation to the product we see on the shelf.

When creating products I seek to identify challenges pet parents have when grooming their dogs. Some have pets with dry skin, or pups that are very nervous and hate bath time, and others that are very stinky and need odor control, or deep cleansing. We also make sprays for a quick in between bath refresh anytime of day or night. Others dogs have a dry and brittle coat that needs some extra conditioning, dematting and detangling. We create comprehensive solution sets based on those needs to solve problems for pet owners and their furry friends to help make grooming fun, healthy and more effective.

What are some things you take into consideration during the creation of new products?

Is there really a need for this product? Is it something that is going to be helpful or is it just going to be another generic product the marketplace does not need?

Other than BarkLogic, what is something you are passionate about?

Healthy eating, cooking, scuba diving, running, my family, and giving back at the community level to shelters, and organizations in need.

What is one major lesson you learned about running a business?

Nobody will care about your business as much as you do!

What are some challenges you have overcome with BarkLogic?

Staying in stock. We had some supply chain issues during the pandemic, and thankfully those are now over. However, sometimes our products sell out faster than anticipated and customers start calling to find out when they will be available again. It is growing pains for sure, and something that keeps me up at night because I truly value all of our customers. I am so grateful and honored they chose to give BarkLogic a try, and it has become part of their their dog grooming regimen, so I don't want to ever let them down.

What would you say is your most effective marketing channel?

Word of mouth, from parent to parent.

"It is my hope that customers can understand that the products we make are with purpose, and our ingredients are carefully chosen as every ingredient matters."

Give us the backstory of your brand’s name.

I wanted a name that would evoke common sense around the brand. There are so many products on the market that are filled with unnecessary ingredients that are not healthy, nor logical quite frankly, so I chose the name BarkLogic. It is my hope that customers can understand that the products we make are with purpose, and our ingredients are carefully chosen as every ingredient matters.

What would you like to see for BarkLogic's future?

I would like BarkLogic to become a household name that stands for safety, efficacy and quality. Pet parents can trust our vegan and cruelty free products that are manufactured right here in the U.S.A.

What do you think is the most prominent concern in the pet industry?

Product safety and ingredients that are not disclosed. There needs to be more transparency and oversight.
